Gold Foundation organises regular youth groups for young people with Asperger Syndrome from 12 to 20 years of age.
Our youth groups are held in a relaxed and fun environment, where young Aspies can be social together, forge lasting friendships and, informally, develop social skills and connect with others their age.
Youth groups are operated by skilled facilitators while members also have input on their program for the year.
Youth group activities include, but are not limited to:
- Movie nights
- Video games
- Board games
- Cooking lessons
- Arts & crafts
- Themed nights (e.g. Halloween, birthday parties, World Autism Awareness Day… etc.)
- Science night
- Health & fitness
- Table tennis
- Excursions & events (may incur separate fees)
To facilitate the five goals of the Barrier Model, namely: confidence (academic and social), persistence, organisation, getting along and emotional resilience.
To encourage and facilitate positive relationships, positive achievements, acceptable behaviour and encourage general wellbeing, and to enhance, promote and reinforce positive habits of the mind.
